 I Have Achieved These Goals:

CREATE A MORE RATIONAL APPROACH TO
HOME REMODELING

After my election to council in 2006, we changed the Design Review Board (DRB) by reducing the number of members, increased the square footage requiring review for a residential addition from 500 sq ft to 700 sq feet.

We also changed the Floor Area Ratios (FAR) from a standard to a guideline to provide for lot-coverage flexibility. Second story additions are allowed, however a DBR is requried.

This has created a more rational approach to allowing home remodeling within the City of Goleta as well as providing for community input. The key element was to create a balance between homeowners and their affected neighbors.
